Venue

The conference will take place at the Jagiellonian University Didactic and Library Centre, located on the Ruczaj Campus of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. This modern academic complex provides excellent facilities for lectures, workshops, and networking, combining a contemporary architectural design with a comfortable and accessible environment for all participants.

The building has five entrances: two main and three side ones.

  • One of the main entrances is located near the “Kampus UJ” tram stop, offering easy access for participants arriving by public transport.
  • The second main entrance faces Aleja Wawelska, where one of the side entrances is also located.
  • Both the main entrance and one side entrance (from Aleja Wawelska) are fully accessible for wheelchair users.

The venue is part of the university’s expanding Ruczaj district, surrounded by research institutes, green areas, cafés, and convenient transport links to the city centre.

Getting to Kraków

Kraków is well connected to major European cities. You can reach the city conveniently by plane, train, or car. The main railway and bus stations are located in the city centre.

By Plane

Kraków Airport offers direct flights to many European destinations, as well as frequent connections to major hub airports such as Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, and London.

The airport is located on the outskirts of the city but is well connected to the centre. You can reach the city centre by train, bus, or taxi.

Train (SKA1 line)

  • Route: Kraków Airport – Kraków Main Station – Wieliczka Salt Mine
  • The Kraków Airport train station is located just behind the multi-storey car park, connected to the terminal by a footbridge.

Passengers can reach Kraków Main Station in the city centre and continue their journey using public transport (see below).

Bus (lines 300 and night line 902)

  • Departure: Kraków Airport bus stop (outside the terminal)
  • Line 300 → Rondo Grunwaldzkie 03 stop (near ICE Congress Centre – convenient transfer point)
  • Night line 902 → Teatr Słowackiego 02 stop (close to Kraków Main Station)

By Train

The Kraków Main Station (Kraków Główny) is located in the city centre and provides excellent connections to other parts of Poland and Europe.
You can check train schedules on the website of the national train operator PKP Intercity.

To reach the conference venue (Jagiellonian University Didactic and Library Centre):

  • From the Teatr Słowackiego tram stop (near the main station),
  • Take tram line 18 or 52 in the direction of Czerwone Maki P+R,
  • Get off at Kampus UJ stop.

Ticket: 6 PLN, available at station machines, onboard, or via app (see below).
Please remember to validate your ticket upon boarding.

From the City Centre to the Conference Venue

The easiest way to reach the Jagiellonian University Didactic and Library Centre is by public transport or taxi.

 By tram or bus

  • Take any tram heading towards Czerwone Maki P+R.
  • Convenient stops in the city centre include: Wawel, Poczta Główna, Teatr Słowackiego, Stary Kleparz, Teatr Bagatela, and Starowiślna.
  • Trams: 18, 52, 11, 72
  • Get off at Kampus UJ stop (approx. 20–30 min ride).
  • From there, it’s about an 3-minute walk to the Jagiellonian University Didactic and Library Centre building.

 Tip: depending on the time of day and starting point, a 60-minute ticket may be the best option.

Getting Around Kraków

Kraków has an excellent public transport system, including trams and buses operated by MPK Kraków.
The conference venue is conveniently located near several tram and bus stops.

By Taxi or Ride-Sharing

Kraków has several reliable taxi companies. It is recommended to use an established network or a ride-sharing app rather than hailing taxis on the street.

Ride-sharing

Apps such as Uber and Bolt operate efficiently in Kraków.
They offer competitive prices and accept card payments via the app.
Both apps are available for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Accommodation

The conference organizers do not provide or recommend specific accommodation.
However, Kraków offers a wide range of reliable accommodation options.

Most hotels are located within or near the city centre, offering easy access by tram or bus to the conference venue (Kampus UJ).
We recommend booking accommodation well in advance, as Kraków is a popular tourist destination, especially in spring and summer.

Recommended areas

Ruczaj / University Campus area

The closest area to the conference venue → the shortest travel time by tram (MPK tram lines 18, 52, 11, 72) to the Jagiellonian University Campus.

A quiet, mainly residential neighbourhood without large tourist crowds.

Access:

Approximately several minutes by tram to the campus.

Rondo Grunwaldzkie / Jubilat / Vistula River area

A strategic tram hub (direct tram lines towards Ruczaj, e.g. 11, 18, 52). Close to green areas and within walking distance of the city center

We particularly recommend the Novotel Krakow Centrum and ibis Krakow Centrum options, as these are two hotels located in the same building. They offer different price categories while sharing an excellent location and very convenient transport connections, making them a practical and flexible choice.

Kraków Main Railway Station / City Centre

An excellent base if you would like to combine sightseeing (Main Market Square, Old Town, Kazimierz) with convenient tram access to the University Campus.  Immediate proximity to major tourist attractions and numerous restaurants, bars, and museums. Good tram and bus connections towards the Ruczaj campus.

Practical note

We recommend choosing accommodation located close to tram lines leading to the Ruczaj campus.

Useful information for the international participants

 Electricity and plugs

  • Poland uses type E electrical sockets (two round pins and an earth pin) with voltage: 230 V / 50 Hz. Plug types C and F (common in most of Europe) also fit type E sockets.
  • Participants from the UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Switzerland etc. will need an adapter.

 Currency and payments

  • Local currency: Polish zloty (PLN).
  • Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Revolut etc.) are widely accepted.
  • Contactless payments are very common (including Apple Pay, Google Pay).
  • ATMs are easily available in the city and at the airport.

Internet and mobile

  • Wi-Fi is available at the conference venue and most hotels, cafés, and public areas.
  • Poland is part of the EU roaming zone, so EU mobile plans work without extra charges.
  • For participants from outside the EU, prepaid SIM cards are inexpensive and available at the airport and in convenience stores.

Other practical tips

  • Tap water is safe to drink.
  • Shops are generally open 9:00–21:00 (some malls later). Most shops are closed on Sundays, except in tourist areas.
