IPWG-12 Training Course

The Coordinating Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS), in a cooperation with IMGW-PIB, will organize, jointly to IPWG-12 Workshop, a two-day training course on satellite-derived precipitation products, with emphasis on the new and emerging technologies and sensors, from July 8 to July 9, 2026 in Kraków, Poland.  We have a pleasure to invite young scientists, PhD students and early career researches interested in satellite derived precipitation to participate in the Course. The Course will provide insight to the IPWG goals, available  data sources, algorithm specifics including Merged IR/microwave algorithms, emerging AI methods, and uncertainty quantification. The lectures addressing the precipitation in Europe and Africa will be also given. All participants are requested to register not later than 31st June 2026 using the IPWG-12 web-page.

Request for Support

The conference has limited travel support available for individuals in a position to disseminate satellite precipitation products to a wider audience who would benefit from a dedicated training session covering the underlying theory and products available through IPWG. For individuals applying for support, both a CV as well as a letter requesting support must be included. The letter should clearly address the benefits that the training would represent for the broader community.
